The art of weaving traditionally is about Womens' business, something happens when women get together to create, and baskets were originally created to carry things from food to babies, this was an era when bags and basinets did not exist. But with the skills came the "yarning" and they were the lessons for life, yarning about man, yarning about faith, yarning about problems. The experiences we shared, became knowledge for the future and direct our path even when we don't realise it. The world we live in is fast paced, technology and time, steal our connections and rob us of truly connecting to our people, our environment and our maker. Hit the pause button and be present in the here and now, just breathe.....
Weaving can take on so many forms, baskets, mats, earrings, bowls using so many different media such as grass, raffia, string, fabric and wire to name a few. The workshops can be tailored to suit any needs. Based on skill level, time allocated or making a specific product.
The workshops can be designed for a specific group and a particular outcome, or both. Ideally the workshops should be between 5 and 10 people and 1 hour is the minimum time to be able to complete something.
